Young Driver, the UK’s largest provider of pre-17 driving lessons, having delivered more than 1.6 million lessons across 70 UK venues, are giving away two 60 minute driving lessons, worth £100 each.

Keeping young drivers safe on the roads is a subject often in the news. But should driver education start long before 17? Young Driver, which teaches youngsters from four-years-old, certainly thinks so.

Shockingly, in the UK 20% of new drivers crash within six months of passing their test. But research conducted with Young Driver past pupils reveals that drops dramatically, to fewer than 4%. Young Driver alumni are also more likely to pass their test: the scheme’s research shows that 78% pass first time compared to the national average of 48%. Young Driver pupils can also enjoy discounts on insurance because they are statistically safer drivers.

With the driver training scheme, youngsters aged nine to 17 learn the basics of safe, responsible driving in dual-controlled Suzuki Swifts or similar cars, under the supervision of fully qualified instructors. Those aged four to nine-years can drive the specially designed electric Firefly Sport supercars at selected venues.

A road system is created, with traffic signs, roundabouts and junctions, along with special areas to practice manoeuvres such as steering control and parking. The emphasis of the lessons is on safety, fun and encouraging youngsters to drive responsibly, giving them time to perfect driving skills without the pressures of public roads. What’s more, driving tuition is also available for youngsters with disabilities or additional needs at every venue.

1. Two winners will each receive a voucher for a 60-minute Young Driver lesson. The winners can choose a time and venue to suit them from all times/dates/venues available at the time of booking.
2. To take part in Young Driver, the participant must be aged 9 or over and more than 1.4 metres tall.
3. There is no cash alternative for the prize and no alternative will be offered. Prizes are non-transferable.
4. Entrants must be aged 18 or over.
5. The winners will be chosen at random by an independent person.
6. Winners will receive their prize within 28 days of the closing date of the competition.
7. The promoter’s decision is final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into.
